TIPS: 5 ways to make your candle burn longer

Here are some tips to get your soy candle burning well and for the maximum amount of time, so that you can enjoy it's lovely scent for longer.

1. Most importantly soy candles have a memory, so make sure on the first burn you burn it long enough to melt the wax all the way across to the edge of the container to prevent tunneling (where some wax remains unmelted on the sides of the jar). For our 300ml candles this equates to approx. 3 hours, for our small jars, approx.2 hours.

2. Keep the candles away from drafts to prevent smoking and soot. When burned correctly there should be very little soot, if there is, remove it from the draft source. If you notice blackness around the rim of the jar this can be wiped clean with a tissue.

3. The wick should be kept trimmed to ¼ inch as this will help keep the candle burning gently and prolong its burn time. Only trim when the wax has hardened. A wick trimmer will ensure the black wick trimmings don't fall into your candle making it appear untidy. Check out the candle care set we use here.4. Allow soy candles to cool and harden before relighting them.

5. If you find wax is collecting to one side of the jar, creating and uneven burn, adjust the wick back to the centre of the jar or lean it closer to the side requiring more heat.
